Mr. David Earl Carthins, son of the late Phillip Carthins and the late Dora Moore Carthins, was born on May 1, 1950 in Red Springs, North Carolina. God called him home to rest on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
David received his education in the Red Springs Public Schools and was a 1969 graduate of Red Springs Senior High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country well from April 1974-April 1987. David owned and operated a restaurant for several years. David was employed as a truck driver for Corney Transportation. David was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church on Daniel McLeod Road. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Toleda Carthins; two sisters: Joan Johnson and Margaret Council; and three brothers: Kenneth, Lafayette, and Edward Carthins.
He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Raegan Carthins of Red Springs, North Carolina, one son, First Lt. George Farrington, Joint-base Lewis-McChord, Washington; three grandchildren: Jordan Carthins and Destiny Carthins of the home, Zavier Farrington, Orlando, Florida; one brother, Leewood Carthins (Butch) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one sister, Linda Shanklin of Greensboro, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
