Ms. Esther Mae Leak  "Snack" was born May 11, 1931 in Robeson County, North Carolina to the late Mr. Pickett Leak and the late Mrs. Mary Leak. She departed this life on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Duke Hospice in Durham, North Carolina. A lifelong resident of Red Springs, she was preceded in death by her 19 brothers and sisters including her identical twin sister and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Glenda B. Leach.

Esther was a member of Johnson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church on Raeford Road and moved her membership to First Freewill Baptist Church on Daniel McLeod Road. She was a faithful member until she moved to Durham, North Carolina due to health reasons. She loved "praising" the Lord.

Esther was soft-spoken and loved her family unconditionally. She enjoyed fellowshipping with family and friends, working in the garden, and sitting on the front porch or front yard. She had a "sweet tooth" for peppermint candy and cake. Esther was a loving and caring mother, aunt, and friend to everyone she knew.

Homegoing services are scheduled for Saturday, April 7, 2017 at 1pm at St. Joseph Miracle Revival Center in Red Springs, North Carolina with Apostle Anthony Buie, Officiating.

She leaves to cherish her memories six children: Mr. John Willie Leach, Ms. Dorothy Mae Baker,  Mr. Randy A. Leak, Ms. Mary M. Leak and Mr. Donell Leach all of Red Springs, North Carolina and Mr. James T. Leak of Durham, North Carolina; a very special friend, Ms. Sarah Margaret Wade of Red Springs, North Carolina; her caretaker, Ms. Issah Collins, of Red Springs, North Carolina; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
