Mr. Leroy Ferguson, Sr., was born in Hoke County, North Carolina to the late Mr. Hector Ferguson and the late Mrs. Mary Lee Currie Ferguson on June 9, 1937. Leroy was called to eternal rest on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Scotland Hospice in Scotland County, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Jerome; one sister, Betty Townsend; two brothers, Richard Ferguson and Alex Ferguson; and a grandson Joseph Nathaniel Gordon.
Leroy was employed with Burlington Industries in St. Pauls, North Carolina and retired after 21 years of service. After retirement, he became the Community Produce Man serving Robeson and Hoke Counties. Leroy was a very loving and kind hearted person who loved to talk to everyone and he always greeted you with a smile.
Funeral services are held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 2:30 in the afternoon at the Red Springs Middle School with Rev. Dr. Jerry Friday, Officiating and Rev. Dora R. Dorsey, Eulogizing. Burial at Community Rest Cemetery in Red Springs, North Carolina.
Leroy leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 60 years; Peggy Ferguson, five sons; Leroy Ferguson, Jr. (Dorothy), Levon Ferguson, Donnell Ferguson (Tonia), Frederick Ferguson (Kinsa), and Timothy Ferguson (Tanzie); five sisters: Sallie McCormick, Sadie Winston (Gernathern), Hattie Kells, Mary Glaspie, and Mildred Pittman, two brothers, James H. Ferguson and Joseph Ferguson (Cornelia), eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two special sons: Michael Murray and Jimmy Burnette, three brothers-in-law, Billy McGoogan, Bobby Greene (Sandra) and Tommy Greene (Alma), a special friend, Nelson Brown and a host of other relatives and friends.
