Lindsay LaGrant McArthur

Lindsay LaGrant McArthur was affectionately known as Pork Chop and Big "L" was born on May 3, 1976 to Mr. Willie "Fuzzy" and Mazie McArthur at Southeastern Regional Hospital in Lumberton, NC. He transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Scotland Hospice House in Laurinburg, North Carolina.

Lindsay accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Rhyne Memorial United Methodist Church in Red Springs, NC. Lindsay would attend Rhyne Memorial with his mother; however, he was a member of St. James AME Zion Church in Red Springs, NC.

Lindsay graduated from Red Springs High School with the Class of 1994. During his high school years he was a star football player (#76). He broke and held numerous records with the Weight Lifting and Shot-Put Division. His classmates, family, and friends referred to him on and off the field by the name of "Pork Chop," he would go on to earn a Football Scholarship to play with the Fayetteville State Broncos (#77).

Lindsay was a very loving, caring, and humbled young man with the calm demeanor. Playing football brought him much joy and satisfaction; however, on November 19th (94); the birth of his pride and joy (Lindsay Cornelius LaGrant McArthur aka Little Lindsay-Smurf); would take him into yet another phase in his life where he was referred to as Pooh (Grrr)! Who can forget his favorite motto: I CAN DIG IT!!! as he slaps his bald head.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 for a Viewing & Visitation at the St James AME Zion Church in Red Springs, NC. Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at St Joseph Miracle Revival Center in Red Springs, NC.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife: Danita McArthur; one son Lindsay Cornelius LaGrant McArthur; four daughters, Kayla Bryant, Anaja and Wilnaysha McArthur, and Kenyatta Perry. father, Willie Fuzzy McArthur, a brother Andre (Vergena) Richardson and a sister, Rev. Stephanie L. McArthur. Two grandchildren Krtistain Bryant and Kameron Walker; godmothers Patricia McLaughlin and Betty Hooker; goddaughter Antasia Ellis; nieces and nephews Jermaine, James, Jeremy, Jaleah, Christopher, Tameko, Vonsheeka, Temecha, Timothy, Andre, Nicyokia; mother-in-law Flora Mae Perry; sister-in-law Deon Minkins; brother-in-law Wilbert Minkins, a very special friend Felicia Ashford; children he was fond of: Duncan, Erica, Monica, Markel, and Kezaiha and a host of aunts, uncles, great nieces/nephews, relatives and friends.
