Mrs. Lillie Margaret “Precious” McDougald Moore

Though her name was Lillie Margaret, hardly anyone ever called her that. Mrs. “Precious” Moore, daughter of the late Roscoe and Lela Baker McDougald was born on September 5, 1936 in Scotland County, North Carolina and entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, North Carolina.

“Precious” grew up in Red Springs and was educated in the Robeson County Schools graduating from Peterson High School in 1955. She also attended Durham Business College. Upon uniting in Holy Matrimony with Mr. Louis Moore, she became a part of a military family and they traveled across the United States and Europe. After the family left the military, they returned to Red Springs. “Precious” was employed by the Robeson County Schools at the Peterson Elementary School where she remained until her retirement.

“Precious” had a strong faith and from a child she was a member of St. James AME Zion Church. She was a faithful servant and was involved with the Missionary Department, Sunday School and Christian Education Department, especially working with the children. She always enjoyed chaperoning the children on Saturday of the Annual Conference, which was Youth Day. Even after her health failed, she still loved her church and was interested in what was happening.

Her greatest joy was being a wife to Louis and a mother to David and Louis, Jr. who predeceased her.

Forever cherishing her memory are: her devoted husband, Louis Moore, son: David Moore (Lois), grandsons: Cecil and Thomas Moore. Brother: Roscoe McDougald, Jr., sister/cousin: Reverend Brenda McCormick, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
